Sheffield Strings

A new Sheffield based project open to adult string players (Grade 6+)

Announcing the next installement of Sheffield Strings, a brand new Strings project open to adult string players (Grade 6+) in Sheffield and surrounding areas.

The aim of the project is to provide an opportunity to delve into diverse string orchestra repertoire (which may not necessarily be explored in symphonic orchestral settings) and to provide a setting for like-minded musicians to connect and socialise, especially after performances!

This Play Project is FREE to participate and perform in but donations are welcome. We are looking for adult musicians (18+) who play the following instruments at approximately ABRSM Grade 6+:

Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass

Music will be provided at rehearsals and practice parts will be sent out digitally to all players.

This is an entirely new project designed by River Edis-Smith. After a hugely successful play-day with 45 musicians back in November 2024 and a small rehearsal/concert series in March 2025 - the aim of this project is to bring together lots of strings players to embrace the joys of playing these lush classics in an etheral cathedral environment!

Feedback from players is greatly appreciated and warmly encouraged at the after rehearsal and concert socials.
